Pongo – often referred to as the diva of Kuduro – has made it her life’s mission to push the Kuduro genre forward by incorporating new influences into it from all over the world. Traditional Angolan songs, Caribbean Zouk, Brazilian bears: all of these were part of her childhood’s soundtrack and add to her unique, eclectic style. Her sound is impossible to pigeonhole and is a combination of kuduro, dancehall, electronics and modern pop.
Born in Angola, the passionate dancer grew up in an environment full of music and rhythm. Pongo started her music career in her teens as a singer of Lisbon kuduro collective Buraka Som Sistema. She has been successful as a solo artist as well in recent years with her euphoric, catchy tracks and ecstatic shows that will have everyone dancing in no-time.
