Buena Vista Social Orchestra
Buena Vista Social Orchestra is one of two continuations of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club. This group is known worldwide as the most successful Cuban music project ever.
With roots in Havana, the original group brought traditional Cuban music to the international stage. The breakthrough came in 1997 with the Ry Cooder-produced album “Buena Vista Social Club”. The release turned into an international success and was awarded with a Grammy. It also led to a documentary with the same name in 1999, produced by Wim Wenders, which told their story. Their music has sold over 50 million copies worldwide, a remarkable achievement for a traditional music project.
Buena Vista Social Orchestra, led by trombonist and arranger Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, is keeping that legacy alive. Together with original members “Betún” Luis Mariano Valiente Marín, Emilio Senon Morales Ruiz and Fabían Garcia, the group offers a mix of well-known classics and the repertoire of the legendary Cuban band.
