Amsterdam Klezmer Band, renowned worldwide, brings an ode to the sounds that formed them. With love for the rich klezmer tradition, they play the mesmerizing melodies that touch them deeply.
During this performance, they will play both timeless classics and brand-new own work. The band mixes traditional klezmer with styles like jazz and Balkan. Brass, double-bass, accordion and percussion are used for pulsating grooves full of subtle, yet raw energy. The band loves to make their audience sweat, but can just as easily let you mesmerized with soulful laments.
The Amsterdam Klezmer Band started in 1996 as a group of buskers that played traditional Yiddish music. 30 years later, the band has grown into an internationally celebrated band with an iron-clad live reputation. During these decades, the band has managed to stay on the radar and tour the whole world. They have built an audience of connoisseurs that have loved their work for years. Their music inspired other musicians too, from Latin America to Russia, resulting in tons of colourful AKB covers that can be found on YouTube. The band has released 19 albums so far, which include successful collaborations with Söndörgő, Amsterdam Andalusisch Orkest, Galata Gypsy and Lilian Vieira.
