Stuurbaard Bakkebaard are back once again with a new album called “Feeding the Rats”. This is a band that keeps finding new ways to push their boundaries, forever seeking adventure. Is it experimental rock? Neo psych? In a way, their music is a genre of its own.
Under the name of Stuurbaard Bakkebaard, this trio has been releasing music since 1996. Five albums have come out so far and they have played over hundreds of shows in The Netherlands, Europe and South-Africa. After their latest record “Boys Do Cry” (PIAS) the band went silent for a while – but they weren’t twiddling their thumbs in the meantime. They made a lot of music for film and television, while sketching out new ideas: new music, intended for the stage. It turned into their sixth record.
This is a new chapter of a story that’s far from being over. Now they are back on stage! Their new album will come out on vinyl on 20 March. You will hear the band in their rawest, edgiest form to date, with a sound built on fuzz, drums and their typically distorted vocals. It is intense, abrasive, charming and in a strange way even danceable. This is going to be one live experience you do not want to miss.
