Hulder

Hulder started off as a solo project of Marliese Beeuwsaert, also known as “The Inquisitor”, who was born in Flanders but grew up in Oregon. As a band, the promote themselves as “dark medieval black metal”, taking their cues from old school legends like Bathory, early Emperor and Darkthrone. Hulder brings those influences to life in a unique, atmospheric and clearly contoured style. Doomy riffs, mystical folklore with medieval influences and atmospheric elements are combined with hard-hitting, furious guitar lines, dark bass lines and murderous drumming. With their two-year-old “Verses in Oath”, Hulder managed to deliver a remarkably impressive record full of dark and angry medieval black metal. As a little sweetener, they released the EP “A Beacon From Darkened Skies” last year, which also featured a song in Dutch, ‘Zonnesteen’. New material is on the way.

Special guest tonight is a local. Groesbeek band Asgrauw combines classic black metal with a healthy dose of melody, atmosphere and a typically Dutch melancholy perspective. Their sound is raw and powerful and features blast beats, fast-paced riffs and a mix of screams and clean vocals with Dutch lyrics.

This show takes place in Waalhalla. It is one of the most exciting cultural hotspots in Nijmegen and can be found at the Wingelingseweg, right next to De Vasim en the NYMA area. Click here for more info.
