Dutch band Bettie Serveert has a rich history. Since 1991, the band has been winning over audiences with their catchy energy. In the fall of 2027, the band will return to Nijmegen.
The story of Bettie Serveert starts with Carol van Dyk, who was born in Canada and raised in the Netherlands. She starts off as a sound technician for renowned underground band De Artsen. Four friends from that band’s hemisphere start a new side-project: in 1991, they found the band Bettie Serveert, quickly gaining the attention of Nijmegen label Brinkman Records, as well as those of other labels. Debut album “Palomine” follows shortly thereafter.
The band was praised in those years as the most confusing, desolate and life-like guitar sound of the era. They toured extensively with artists like Belly, Dinosaur Jr., Buffalo Tom, Superchunk and Jeff Buckley. With their third album “Dust Bunnies”, the Betties had help of Pavement and Lemonheads producer Bryce Goggin’s studio experience. It was the first album they recorded in the United States.
In 2023, their debut album was re-issued by Matador Records for its 30th Anniversary.
