A Giant Dog

They claim to be inspired by Marc Bolan, Alice Cooper, Slade and Sparks, but their sound is somewhere in between Joan Jett, The Damned, The Stooges and The New York Dolls on the one hand and their Merge label mates Waxahatchee, King Khan, Mike Krol and Reigning Sound on the other hand.

The band is fronted by super energetic singer Sabrina Ellis, who doesn’t just have powerful vocal chords, but also jumps around live on stage as Iggy Pop does. Sabrina Ellis is the most eye-catching element in the band, but don’t underestimate the rock solid rhythm section and twin guitar attack. A Giant Dog has a terrific live reputation, especially in front of crowds drenched in beer and sweat.
