Singer-songwriter Anneke van Giersbergen conquered the world with her serene, powerful voice, musical versatility and mesmerizing stage presence.
Her new album will be named “La vie, la mort, l’amour” – which is French for “Life, Death, Love”. This collection of songs will be released as a trilogy of EPs first and as a full-fledged album in 2026. This is the reason to come back to Doornroosje for a performance, this time even more special than the last times as she is accompanied by a band.
After 13 years as the front woman of melancholy metal band The Gathering, Anneke decided to strike out on her own in 2007. Ever since then, her creativity knows no boundaries. She quickly built a successful solo career and had frequent collaborations with Canadian metal genius Devin Townsend and Ayreon mastermind Arjen Lucassen. She also lent her voice to a wide number of acts, which include Napalm Death, Iceland formation Árstíðir, Amorphis and prog legend John Wetton.
Anneke’s 23rd (!) album, “The Darkest Skies Are the Brightest”, came out in 2021 and managed to connect deeply with her fans once more. The five reunion shows with The Gathering in August 2025, to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of classic album “Mandylion”, was sold out within minutes and turned out to be a true triumph.
