Antwerp indie folk trio BLUAI creates a sound using the creative impulses of contemporary indie folk and the softer guitar pop sounds of the nineties. The themes deal with some of the most important aspects of life: relationships, love and a broken heart. Once having started off as a bedroom project, the trio released their debut “Save It for Later” in March of this year.
Within just a few months in 2022, BLUAI (pronounce as “blue eye”) won the most important talent competitions in Flanders: De Nieuwe Lichting (Studio Brussel) and Humo’s Rock Rally 2022. It started off as a project of photography student Catherine Smet. She turned it into an all-female band, with one caveat: “Our success is built on a very tight friendship. The project is all about love, friendship and making beautiful music. That we’re all female is just icing on the cake.” After an impressive performance at ESNS, BLUAI will also perform at Lowlands this summer. It is the perfect road to a club tour in the fall, which includes a performance in Nijmegen.
