For decades, Clan of Xymox has been regarded as one of the founders of darkwave and has left an indelible mark on the genre worldwide – even though the band hails from Nijmegen.
Over the years, the line-up has changed frequently, but with Ronny Moorings as the driving force, the distinctive sound has always remained intact.
Under a veil of melancholy and a dark atmosphere, Clan of Xymox effortlessly weaves together elements of darkwave, gothic rock, and synthpop. The result is a timeless sound that is essential listening for fans of The Sisters of Mercy, Bauhaus, She Past Away, and Twin Tribes, among others.
With their debut album “Subsequent Pleasures”, the band immediately made a name for themselves in the underground in the mid-eighties. The real breakthrough followed with “Clan of Xymox”, featuring the classic ‘A Day’. Since then, the band has built a loyal international fanbase and their influence remains clearly audible in the contemporary darkwave and gothic scene.
