On 5 November, Merleyn will be drenched in the reverb and atmospheric synths of Dlina Volny. The band creates a pleasant blend of new wave, romantic synth-pop and melancholy post-punk.
Dlina Volny takes inspiration from early Soviet pop from the eighties and brutalist architecture, which can be heard in their music: a mix of repetitive drum rhythms, vintage synthesizers and post-punk bass lines. The dark, sultry voice of Masha Zinevitch gives their overall sound a melancholy and nostalgic mood, with themes like love, fear and rebellion in a post-Soviet reality. It all sounds nostalgic with a modern touch. Their new album “In Between” came out on quality label Italians Do It Better. Dlina Volny is highly recommended to fans of Molchat Doma, Lebanon Hanover, Kaelan Mikla and Boy Harsher.
