Everything that Florist (aka Emily Sprague) creates has a warm glow that gives her music a unique softness. Together with her band mates, she creates refined folk songs in which field recordings, piano intermezzos, softly humming guitars and desolate sax eruptions bring her gorgeous songs to a higher plain of existence.
Their most recent album is simply called “Florist” as it embodies the group and interplay more than ever, something that was also observed by music blog Pitchfork that praised it highly. This fourth album was recorded during a kind of retreat and that’s audible as well: through simple and natural means, Florist creates the most exciting kind of meditative music that keeps your attention. Live their musicality becomes even more apparent, so we are very happy to welcome Florist to Doornroosje.
Highly recommended to fans of Adrienne Lenker, Big Tjief, Bon Iver and Angel Olsen.
