Fusing genres and disciplines can be a work of art, as the project fusus demonstrates. With an impressive array of drums, pianos, synths, percussion and samples, these multi-instrumentalists create a sound universe of their own. It results in a cinematic mix of (neo)classical, electronics and jazz, which is both danceable and introspective.
In recent years, the duo has made waves with their eccentric and artistic live shows. With unusual audience placings, experimental light design and special sound techniques, these multi-instrumentalists create a multi-faceted experience that will engulf you whole.
Their latest live show, “in here”, is once again evidence of this. A “living stage” moves along with the emotion carried by the music, with a three-layer sound set-up that covers the range between intimate moments to engaging surround sound. Their self-titled debut album is an ode to serenity: to find calm in the storm.
The roots of Ruben Maathuis and Koen Vosmeijer are in classical percussion. After a collaboration with DJ/Producer De Sluwe Vos (Vosmeijer’s brother), they decided to start their own mix of electronic and classical sounds. This is quickly followed by two EPs, as well as an award at the Grote Prijs van Nederland. With the white-box show “In Textus” and the successful headphone concept “IN U NI”, the duo successfully made the move into innovative audio-visual experiences.
