Future Utopia rides the waves of global groove in their own way. On their latest album “Django’s High”, the band puts sun-kissed sounds reminiscent of spaghetti westerns on top of up-beat, catchy psychedelic rock grooves. With successful shows at Pukkelpop and Lowlands, Future Utopia is coming back to Doornroosje now for a show of their own.
Fraser T. Smith, front man of the band, is best known for his producer work for renowned artists like Adele, Gorillaz, Stormzy and Sam Smith. This led to winning several awards, including a Grammy for his contribution to Adele’s second studio album “21”.
He started his Future Utopia project somewhere in 2020. After a couple of singles, he released his debut album “12 Questions” which also features the likes of Arlo Parks and Dan Smith (Bastille). Musicians Molly, Ben Epstein and Anthony Lewis (Sweetsix) were recruited to re-form Future Utopia as a studio and live band. With this group of musicians, he worked on the second album “Django’s High” that came out in July 2024.
