Canadian songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Evan Uschenko is the driving force behind GHOSTWOMAN, a powerful indie rock band with influences of psychedelia and garage rock.
Just listen to their debut album from 2022 as evidence of this. Their new album “Hindsight is 50/50” is coming out later in 2023. The album is their third in 18 months and was recorded in the analogue Kernwax Studio in Bretagne. Their reverb-drenched, lo-fi pop/rock sounds are the perfect soundtrack for a road trip through a desolate Winter landscape. GHOSTWOMAN sets itself apart from other bands by evoking intense emotions and feelings from their audience. Uschenko hopes that each individual listener has their own interpretation of what the band is trying to convey. Live on stage GHOSTWOMAN offers a full band experience, adding creative mastermind and partner Ille van Dessel (Poolface) and Nick Hay. GHOSTWOMAN frontman Uschenko grew up cashing checks of guitar-players at the gas station after the banks were closed. This very same creative thinking is present in the music, which combines punk rock with layered melodies. There are some similarities with contemporaries like Kurt Vile and Black Lips, but GHOSTWOMAN does have a unique sound of their own.
