Swedish band Greenleaf offers swampy blues boogie riffs, a whiff of psychedelia and sounds influenced by stoner.
The band fronted by Tommi Holappa (Dozer) has released terrific albums in recent years, including “Trails and Passes” and the most recent one, “Echoes From a Mass”. The Swedish have demonstrated their staying power with this latest offering: the gritty sound swings and rocks in the best tradition of 20th century bands. Their albums feature both up-tempo songs and more mellow, extended cuts, all with a modern retro vibe. Greenleaf fits in the tradition of bands like Graveyard, Truckfighters and Kadavar. So fans of those bands should take notice!
Duo Earth Tongue from New Zealand inject their psychedelic rock with a large dose of gothic horror, as can be heard on their latest album “Miraculous Death”.
