Julia Sabaté
Half-Spanish, half-Dutch artist Julia Sabaté makes electropop with Spanish lyrics. She recently released her new single ‘Vacía’, which has her reflecting on an invasive experience. She articulates the urge to distract yourself to escape it. It also opens a door to the world of her upcoming album ‘Egoísta’.
The artist grew up with two cultures and discovered this had its benefits, although it can lead to inner conflicts, too. Who are you? How do you identify yourself and which are your own values? Eventually, that balance was reached when Julia started expressing her thoughts in Spanish.
Backed by musicians Ruben Sieben and Koen Hermans, with whom she writes and produces her songs, she found her home: the stage. After shows at BIME (Bilbao), Eurosonic Noorderslag 2024 (The Netherlands), Mad Cool Festival (Madrid), support slots for Froukje (Belgium tour) and Pukkelpop (Belgium), Julia was given the prestigious Dutch Talent Award in 2025.
