Much-praised Norwegian psychedelic rock trio Kanaan and neo-folk innovators Ævestaden have decided to join forces for a unique project which brings together jazzy psych rock and traditional Norwegian folk music.
With the album “Langt, Langt Vekk” (which translates to “far, far away”), the two acts have created a unique album. Kanaan brings their jazz/psych rock sound and Ævestaden their modern folktronica, warm harmonies and the use of a number of centuries-old instruments. By combining this with traditional Norwegian folk music, this results in gorgeous, meditative songs that are different from the well-worn path. They kick it up a notch every now and then, bringing Kanaan’s rock DNA coming to the foreground. “Langt, Langt Vekk” is, in its simplicity, a brilliant record that was made to be experienced live. An intimate stage like Merleyn’s is perfect for it.
