A band offering hard-hitting, dark melancholy and one of the most popular acts in the dark folk genre: that’s US band King Dude in a nutshell. The band, led by singer TJ Cowgill (also known from Book of Black Earth), bridges the gaps between neo folk, Americana, new wave goth and blues.
In a world in which American folk lost contact with its bloody roots, King Dude tries to alleviate the darkness with sex, death, love, madness and the light of Lucifer.
His dedicated rock ‘n roll is both the medium as the message; his deep baritone and devilish lyrics are the tools he uses to light the flame of revelation in anyone he comes across. Lyrics often deal with death and pain, but also with love, light and salvation. There are some parallels to be drawn with Johnny Cash’s music, but fans of Nick Cave will also find something to their liking here.
