Swedish quartet MaidaVale found inspiration in the works of obscure acts like Jane, Jeronimo, King Ping Meh and Epitaph, who unleashed their spectacular psychedelic compositions onto mankind back in the seventies.
MaidaVale also took some of their cues from proto bands like Blue Öyster Cult and Blue Cheer, however. These women know how to mold groove, spirituality and psychedelia to a unique, funky and heavily rockin’ whole. A bit strange? Yes, but in a good way. They gained a lot of new fans at their show at Sonic Whip 2022, and rightfully so. The band is currently working on writing and recording new material. So we have something to look forward to in Merleyn!
