Atlanta singer Mattiel Brown makes warm rock ‘n roll with a retro feel to it. With her immediately recognizable voice, and with sixties garage and blues rock as a major source of inspiration, Mattiel creates songs that seem to be pulled straight out of a time machine. Her songs are somewhere in between soul, blues and rock ‘n roll, but they’re not stuck to any of them in particular.
She has previously released her self-titled debut album and successor “Satis Factory”, with new work on the way. As is the case with many albums written during the pandemic, Mattiel’s third studio album “Georgia Gothic” was written in a small cabin somewhere in the Georgia wilderness. The album is the result of a remarkable collaboration between Mattiel and her producer. While they used to write songs separately from one another, they now spent a lot of time together in the cabin. This led to unexpected twists and new layers in sound and lyrics. In May 2022 Mattiel will come back to Nijmegen and present her new album live on stage.
Tonight’s support will come from Canadian artist Le Ren. Recently her debut album “Leftovers” came out, which features beautiful guitar-playing and dreamy vocals.
