Mike and the Moonpies are a country and Americana band from Austin, Texas. The band was founded almost 15 years ago by singer-songwriter Mike Harmeier. They started off playing covers with a 300-song repertoire. Throughout the years they’ve turned into a Nashville-styled band with a sound of its own that’s both fresh and familiar.
Their sixth album “Cheap Silver and Solid Country Gold” refers to the days the band still had to earn their wings. For the recording sessions, the band went to the renowned Abbey Road Studios in London. The result is their most adventurous and modern record to date, one that has sharp story-telling, a dynamic sound and the willingness to experiment.
In the middle of the pandemic the band released their seventh album; another one is on its way. Teaser single ‘Paycheck to Paycheck’ has already been released. To promote this new album, Mike and the Moonpies will come to Merleyn. There they will demonstrate that while they’ll always be a traditional Texas band, they have evolved into much more nowadays.
