Mother’s Cake
Austrian band Mother’s Cake is hard to describe. There’s a true rollercoaster of styles within their energetic, catchy songs that clearly show their passion. Rolling Stone magazine described it as “mind-bending, colourful and trippy psyched-out jams” and we agree with that wholeheartedly.
On their latest album “Cyberfunk!” from 2020, a diverse array of influences can be discerned: psych rock, disco, funk, punk and garage rock. It results in very catchy and exciting songs that are full-fledged. Just listen to songs like ‘I’m Your President’ or ‘Toxic Brother’, which could have been written by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The trio is extremely creative, which leads to a refreshing sound within the genre. They also love to tour and perform, turning them into an experienced live machine.
