American band Mudhoney is often regarded as one of the founders of the grunge genre. These kings of the underground single-handedly turned label Sub Pop in the late eighties, early nineties into a heavyweight label, paving the road to success for fellow Seattle residents Nirvana.

The first EP “Superfuzz Bigmuff” is a crucial release in the development of the underground scene of Seattle. This is a scene that did not only spawn the aforementioned bands, but also Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. This release was recorded by Jack Endino (later also the one at the controls for Nirvana’s “Bleach”) and is an explosion of wild, distorted noise with guitar eruptions drenched in wah-wah effects. They even coined the term “grunge”. 30 years on and these veterans are still at it. Even more, they are as fierce in 2020 as they were when they just started out.

Singer Mark Arm, guitarist Steve Turner, bassist Guy Maddison and drummer Dan Peters released a new album in 2018 called “Digital Garbage”, a record with sharp humor and a very heavy backbone. On this album Mudhoney is extremely critical of the current age and of the situation in their home country in particular.
