Nils Frahm is coming back to Nijmegen. After impressive shows at Valkhof Festival, the old Doornroosje, LUX and the new Doornroosje, he will now perform at De Vereeniging.
The German composer and multi-instrumentalist Nils Frahm is one of the frontrunners of the neoclassical wave that has been popular for a number of years now. By using vintage synths (e.g. Moog) and drum computers, next to his trusted piano, Frahm is able to create an intriguing universe in which electronics, minimal, ambient and piano melodies come together.
After releasing “All Melody” (2018), he had so many outtakes that he quickly followed it up with three “Encores” EP’s, each with a unique sound of their own. “Encore 1” is focused on acoustic melodies of piano and stair organ; “Encore 2” explores the ambient genre; “Encore 3” has Frahm experiment a little with more percussion and electronics.
In 2021 he released the album “Old Friends New Friends”, followed by “Music for Animals” in 2022. The latter was a surprising album by his standards, as it contained 10 songs without any piano (!), an engaging, unhurried experience of over three hours. His live shows are always exciting from the very first note to the last.
