Tonight we’ll have a great selection of post-rock on offer: Oh Hiroshima from Sweden and Törzs from Hungary.
After supporting post-rock legends God Is An Astronaut on tour, Oh Hiroshima is striking out on their own. The current line-up of the band consists of Swedish brothers Jakob Hemström (guitar/vocals) and Oskar Nilsson (drums).
The band has always approached the post-rock genre from a straight angle and this is especially clear on their latest release “Myriad”. By combining the ever-present film-like element of their music with a wide array of new influences, the band is taking a huge step forward on their latest album in both production as songwriting. Without a doubt it’s been their most ambitious album so far. They are bringing an ton of ideas and emotions to the surface, while exploring new, unchartered territory at the same time. Fans of bands like The Ocean, Cult of Luna and Russian Circles will certainly enjoy this!
The East-European newcomer Törzs is the biggest instrumental post-rock band Hungary currently has to offer. Their latest album was recorded in a cave system 500 meters underground, a location marked as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The album was released by the American label A Thousand Arms and Golden Antenna Records from Germany. The band was part of the Moscow Music Week showcase festival and the Budapest Showcase Hub in 2021. The tour is currently touring Europe and they are expected to release a new album in 2023.
