Omar Souleyman is releasing “Erbil” this spring, which is his fifth album on the tasteful Mad Decent label that is also home to Diplo, Major Lazer and Yellow Claw. The album is his ode to the Iraqi town Ebril where he lived for the past year and worked on the album.
The Syrian singer Omar Souleyman started off his career as a wedding singer, but has become a worldwide dance phenomenon since then. With his unique, exciting mix of western techno and Arabian dabke and baladi he managed to find an audience worldwide and played festivals like Glastonbury, Roskilde, Lowlands en Valkhof Festival. He also collaborated with Björk and Four Tet. Expect a festive and energetic night with Souleyman and his keys player Hasan Jamo inviting you to dance and swing on their unique mix of styles.
