Right the before the pandemic hit in 2020, these Japanese punk rockers played a high-energy show in Doornroosje. Otoboke Beaver consists of four Japanese ladies from Kyoto that lose themselves in fierce punk rock, garage and noise-punk that make every second count. This Spring the band is coming back to Doornroosje and they will play another show in the small hall, this time for their “Super Champon Tour 2022” (the Japanese word ‘Champon’ refers to a “mix of several things”).
Singer and guitarist Accorinrin, guitarist Yoyoyoshie, bassist Hiro-chan and drummer Pop make songs that barely exceed 1 minute. They refer to themselves as the Japanese “knock out of pound cake”-band and they sing in Kyoto’s street slang. After a headlining tour in England, the Lowlands festival invited them in 2019 for their European mainland debut show. In the 2019 their album “Itekoma Hits” came out, a record that consisted of both older and brand-new material, which was intended as an introduction to Otoboke Beaver’s work. Their band name refers to a famous love hotel in Kyoto by the way.
