The music of singer-songwriter Pitou, born and raised in Amsterdam, is characterized by her mesmerizing, multi-coloured voice and eccentric compositions. Pitou creates melancholy folk, inspired by the melodies of Joni Mitchell, the intense sadness of Sparklehorse and the choral singing of Le Mystère des Voix Bulgares.
Pitou broke through in 2023 with her album “Big Tear” and made her way to the year lists of publications like Madame Figaro and De Volkskrant. Her musical background – singing in a classic child’s choir and travelling with her parents, which led to collecting cassette tapes by Malinese, Senegalese and Indian artists – led to her own, unique signature sound.
