Ressi/Benes

Tonight, a performance of “Game Over” of multimedia artist Christof Ressi and classically trained clarinettist Szilard Benes will take place. In this performance, the clarinettist uses a motion sensor to navigate as an avatar through bizarre 2D game worlds. The performer is invited to explore the surroundings, to communicate with strange computer-controlled creatures, and to exploit the game mechanics in order to create unconventional musical structures. The audience is taken along on a journey through a wide array of emotional and music-based situations, ranging from subtle sound experiments to psychotic episodes. There are no winners or losers here. The performance is a reflection on the role of the individual in a restricted system, looking for the expressive potential of rebellion against previously defined rules.
