Rianne Walther, the singer and songwriter behind The Indien, is moving forward under her own name: Rianne. She creates pop songs rooted in personal stories; tracks that are full of melancholy yet equally danceable. Her music has become increasingly personal and direct in recent years, prompting her to adopt a name that feels closer to her true self. Her debut single, ‘Funeral’, was released on Friday, August 14, and paves the way for her second album, due in 2027.
Rianne founded The Indien in 2014 alongside guitarist Casper Talsma. The band made a successful comeback in 2023 with singles such as ‘Be Yours’ and ‘Sleep When I’m With You’. The release of their self-titled debut album was followed by sold-out club shows and major festival performances.
Throughout this journey, Rianne has chosen to stay truer to herself and fully embrace her identity. She will release a new album under her own name in 2027, and later this year, she will perform live at Doornroosje.
