Composer and guitarist Robin Scherpen has released several albums by now. He has performed at large venues throughout the country, and time and again his guitar proves to be a voice capable of connecting worlds. But what did he actually accomplish for himself and for the world at large? In his show “Memory & Traces”, he seeks the answer to these questions in the music, without visual distractions.
The concert begins in the dark: when there is nothing left to hold onto, you will hear the first notes. Melancholy and intimacy, without external visual influence. The darkness turns out to be the place from which his music originates and where he takes you into a state of “non-thinking”.
Gradually, a musical world unfolds with images, stories, and thoughts, shaped by his own memories and experiences. “Memory & Traces” grows into a musical performance about happiness. Not the happiness of the outside world or success, recognition, and applause, but the happiness that arises when mind, body, soul, and heart come back into alignment.
