Searows is the indie folk project of Alec Duckart, a singer-songwriter and guitarist born in Kentucky and raised in Oregon.
The debut album of Searows, “Guard Dog” (2022), was written, recorded and produced by Alec himself on an old laptop with GarageBand at the age of 22. On the 13 track “Guard Dog”, which offers his heart-felt view on folk and indie, as well as on the single ‘House Song’ (2024), his song writing is fragile and full of plaintive musings about one’s self, about how to hold yourself together in complicated relationships. The album is about finding and using your voice, especially in harder times.
As Searows’ lyrics speak to so many people, his music rapidly spread across TikTok. He also received praise from artists like Ethel Cain, Gracie Abrams and Tamino, the latter of whom recently took him along on his European tour. Fragile singing and dreamy guitar lines create a world in which melancholy and beauty go hand-in-hand.
