Fans of brutal, modern deathcore will get their money’s worth with Signs of the Swarm. The band blends massive, death metal-influenced riffs with heavy slam breakdowns and djent-like accents. And all of this is presented at lightning speed. On 18 August, the American death core act is coming to Doornroosje, together with Extermination Dismemberment and Heavy//Hitter.
Operating from Pittsburgh, Signs of the Swarm managed to make a name for themselves within the death core scene in record time, driven by a ruthless tour mentality and a series of increasingly more extreme and ambitious releases. From the heavy beginnings of “Senseless Order” to the industrial wrecking ball energy of “To Rid Myself of Truth” (2025), Signs of the Swarm keeps raising the bar, without trading in any of their heaviness in sound. After years of non-stop touring with bands like Lorna Shore, Thy Art Is Murder and Whitechapel, the “Decade of the Swarm” is now back for a headline show. A rare chance to see a band at the absolute peak of their powers: heavier, faster and more aggressive than ever.
The supports are terrific, too. Extermination Dismemberment from Osaka, Japan, is the ultimate expression of extreme Asian metal: hyper-technical blasts with muddy slams and guttural vocals that sound like an exploding slaughterhouse. And that goes for Italian band Heavy//Hitter, too. These gentlemen from Milan take a bulldozer approach to deathcore, with heavy slams and old school death metal-riffs.
