The Norwegian musician Sivert Høyem may be a familiar name, as he is also front man and vocalist of the successful band Madrugada.
Madrugada went out on a reunion tour to celebrate their debut album and played a show in a sold-out Doornroosje. Today, Sivert Høyem will perform in Doornroosje to promote his new album “On an Island”.
Madrugada made a big splash in the early noughties with their melancholy rock, of which the mysterious, dark voice of Sivert Høyem was vital ingredient. After the death of guitarist Robert Burås, the band called it quits in 2008. Sivert Høyem struck out on his own and has been active as a solo artist ever since. He honours the sound of the almost mystical band, without copying it outright. His music is dark, gloomy, grand and melodramatic.
The new album “On an Island” will come out in 2024. The first singles are already out; ‘The Rust’ and ‘Aim for the Heart’ are gorgeous teasers.
