Norwegian singer/guitarist Sivert Høyem is best known as the front man of Madrugada, the rock noir band that released impressive albums like “Industrial Silence” (1999) and “The Deep End” (2005).
Madrugada was very successful in the early noughties with their melancholy alternative rock, especially through the mysterious, dark vocals of front man Sivert Høyem. After the death of guitarist Robert Burås, the band originally called it quits in 2008. They eventually returned this decade with a new album.
Sivert Høyem has been working on his solo career since the original disbandment of Madrugada. He honours the sound of the almost mythical band, without copying it outright. Høyem has a easily recognizable voice that is reminiscent of that of Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave: dark, gloomy, grand and melodramatic. He is supported by a backing band on stage.
