A tasty Scandinavian double-bill toniht with Skraeckoedlan and Kaleidobolt. Both bands have earned their stripes within the psychedelic rock scene. While Skraeckoedlan focuses on engaging, cinematic soundscapes, Kaleidobolt goes straight to the jugular with explosive psych.
Heavy fuzz and riffs with whiffs of progressive psychedelia and lyrics in the mother tongue: that’s all the Swedes of Skraeckoedlan need. Their albums are full of them. The remarkable band name, which can be freely translated to “monster lizard” or “dinosaur”, show what to expect with the band. The sound is massive and smashes through a china shop like a mammoth. But rest assured, the trio also knows damn well how to add a bit more depth to their work. The psychedelic moments of calm are brilliant at times.
Finnish power trio Kaleidobolt mixes heavy psych, progressive rock and proto-metal to a compact and exciting whole that oozes with energy. The furious tracks are extremely catchy and very well put together technically. Even if the styles and influences they use aren’t necessarily new, they still sound fresh and exciting. And that’s the same during their live performances, as Kaleidobolt was built for the stage. The shows are loud, raw and overwhelming. Highly recommended to fans of MC5, Zen Guerilla, The Stooges and Earthless.
