Swedish prog metal super group Soen is coming to Nijmegen. They describe their own music as melodic, heavy and complex. Style-wise, the band is compared to legendary bands like Tool, Opeth and Pink Floyd. Soen very much has an exciting sound that’s truly their own, though.
They have played together since 2004, but they didn’t present themselves as a band until 2010. Two years later, their first, successful album “Cognitive” came out. Soen has always taken the liberty and time to explore and analyse both themselves and society, which led to a lot of sonic evolutions within their music and albums. In 2023, their fifth album “Memorial” came out. This is their heaviest and most dynamic album so far, with clear, sharp and expertly constructed songs that evoke frustrations, reflection and hope. “We wanted more power and bring an oath to metal, as that’s still where our roots lie; we grew up with this genre.” Soen is an absolute must-see for every prog metal fan.
