The four-piece Polish band Sunnata, hailing from Warshaw, is praised for their heavy, transcendental ritual doom songs. Their sound cannot be compared to that of other acts in the genre.
Sunnata, which means ’emptiness’ in Sanskrit, offers a crossover of styles that are heavy and intense on the one hand, but also gentle and stylish on the other. It is a remarkable combination that you don’t hear a lot. Their progressive doom, mixed with sludge, psychedelia and even grunge is an immediate attention-grabber. Their fourth and most recent album “Burning in Heaven, Melting on Earth” from 2021 was a favourite with critics and fans alike. Sunnata is also well-known for their expressive and suspenseful live performances. They have shared stages with bands like Mastodon, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats and Sleep. New material is on the way.
