The music of hardcore punk band Taqbir is in-your-face; growling and barking against conversative conventions. Their 2021 debut EP “Victory Belongs To They Who Fight For A Right Cause” is raw, loud an politically engaged. Anger and frustration are turned into short songs with Moroccan Arabic singing.
The band stands for religious freedom and freedom from religion, which can be heard in their songs. Even though they are singing in Darija (Moroccan Arabic), you don’t actually have to understand the language to get what they’re singing about. Inspiration for their music was found in bands like Diskolost, The Comes and The Sexual. For reasons of personal privacy the ladies have decided to stay anonymous and perform in veils.
