London-based alternative rock band The Boxer Rebellion is finally back! They combine melodious, passionate yet slightly dark-edged Britrock with hopeful, refreshing rock music. After a 6-year hiatus, they released their mini-album “Open Arms” early 2024 that featured three pre-released singles.
The Boxer Rebellion is one of the most underrated bands in recent music history. The group, which consists of Nathan Nicholson, Adam Harrison, Andrew Smith and Piers Hewitt, was founded in 2002 and has released six full-length albums so far. Each of these has a unique sound of its own: on post hardcore debut “Exits” the band has a very raw sound, while “Ocean by Ocean” is more of an indie pop gem. The song ‘Diamonds’ from the album “Promises” (2013) is their biggest hit so far. Their most recent project “Ghost Alive” from 2018 is fully acoustic and should appeal to any folk/singer-songwriter fan.
The Boxer Rebellion doesn’t just release straightforward, classic material, but they don’t shy away from experimentation either. Highly recommended to fans of Editors, The Cure and The Killers.
The band has been in Nijmegen before. In their early days, they played a show in the old Doornroosje and they have been back an additional two times for sold-out shows in the large hall of the new Doornroosje.
