If you can only name one genre to describe The Cat Empire, then that might be quite the challenge. The band doesn’t stick to a single genre, instead opting to combine elements from ska, jazz, funk, rock and even a bit of Latin and salsa.
One thing is clear if you see the band live: it’s hard not to move. These cheerful Australians have been around for quite a few years, have a rock-solid live reputation and always find the energy to play an overwhelming show at a venue or festival.
After having played together for twenty years, multiple band members indicated to focus on other projects. Of the original line-up only Felix Riebl and Ollie McGill are left, but fortunately they still have the same limitless amount of energy.
