The self-described founders of alt.country are back. A few years ago, The Long Ryders released their first album in almost thirty years. The group mixes raw energy with gorgeous country harmonies. On 10 Match 2023, their latest album “September November” will come out through Cherry Red Records.
The Long Ryders was founded in 1981 on the West Coast, in Los Angeles, California. The band signed with Island Records in 1985 and released the album “State of Our Union” that same year, a record that featured their typical 80s country rock sound. Singles like ‘Looking for Lewis & Clark’ quickly rose to the top of the College Radio/Alternative charts, becoming a signature song in the process. They got a chance to tour the world after that, even getting a spot as a support act in U2’s “Joshua Tree” tour.
