American blues artist Robert Cray is coming to Nijmegen with his band: on Friday 26 May he plays in the beautiful setting of Openluchttheater De Goffert.
He has five Grammy Awards under his belt, as well as numerous worldwide hits like ‘Right Next Door’, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ and ‘Smoking Gun’. With over 12 million records sold and thousands of sold-out shows worldwide, Robert Cray is among the absolute best of the international blues scene. The legendary singer/guitarist rightfully got a spot in the Blues Hall of Fame.
Robert Cray previously worked with artists like Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Bonnie Raitt, and John Lee Hooker. The style? Smooth blues and timeless r&b. “Funky cool and bad”, that’s how he describes his latest album himself. “That’s What I Heard” came out in February 2020. With this record, the band is putting a spotlight on the works of Curtis Mayfield, Bobby “Blue” Bland, The Sensational Nightingales and more. The album also includes four new self-penned songs.
