Tré Burt is a singer-songwriter from Sacramento, California, who signed with John Prine’s label Oh Boy Records in 2019. “Caught It From the Rhye” is his debut album, which was reissued by the label in January 2020. The album showcases Burt’s literary-styled songwriting and lo-fi, rootsy aesthetics which he picked up when wandering across the streets of San Francisco.
Burt travelled the world looking for inspiration. Like his labelmate and song-writing hero John Prine, Burt has a good eye for detail, a surgeon-like sense for narrative precision and a natural talent for writing timeless melodies. “Caught It From the Rhye” is a pressing message of an important new voice in song-writing; an album full of wisdom and humor. Tré’s most recent single, ‘Under the Devil’s Knee’, is a collaboration with Our Native Daughters’ Leyla McCalla and Allison Russell, and with LA songwriter Sunny War.
