Vinyl Williams
Vinyl Williams is a neo-psychedelic band from Los Angeles, led by front man Lionel Williams. Williams has some interest in astrology and strange branches of science, which inspires some of the themes of the kaleidoscopic, cosmic, psychedelia that the band has been creating. Williams often records everything on his own, making use of remarkable recording techniques.
It’s difficult to pigeonhole the band’s sound, but it’s more or less a combination of sunshine pop and progressive rock.
Williams isn’t only a musician; he’s also very good at making hyperdimensional lo-fi video artwork. Acts like Tears For Fears, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Morgan Delt have hired him in the past to make videoclips for them, for example. The band has toured a lot with bands like Toro y Moi, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Mount Kimbie, This Will Destroy You and Temples, and now they’re coming to Merleyn for a headline slot of the highest extraterrestrial order.
