Punk, rock and psychedelia: Wine Lips from Canada brings these three styles together to an energetic and exciting whole. It’s fuzzed out garage rock that feels like an overdose of sugar and adrenalin that drag you along for the ride. Wine Lips dive headfirst into adventurous sounds at full speed.
The band started off in 2017 as a project of three roommates that had bands of their own and were looking for an ‘easy punk band’ as an outlet. Songs came fast and easy. And when the other bands fell apart, Wine Lips turned from their part-time punk band into a full-time, boundary crossing live force.
The title of their most recent record, “Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party” (2021), is a good description of their sound. It’s a psychedelic trip that drips with emotion and raw energy. The mixture of psychedelia, acid rock, fuzzy garage rock and 60’s surf blasts through the speakers. Just listen to songs like ‘Eyes’ and ‘Choke’. The Toronto band is highly recommended to fans of acts like Osees, Ty Segall, Frankie & The Witch Fingers and The Reatards.
