Mali duo Amadou and Mariam have been creating their Afropop using pure love for each other and life as its inspiration. For this occasion, they have joined forces with the legendary gospel ensemble The Blind Boys of Alabama. From Bamako to Birmingham: this is a music meeting of the minds between two legendary groups.

Hailing from Bamako, capital of Mali, Amadou and Mariam met at the Institute for the Blind. “Fusion is the key ingredient and the personal taste of this Mali duo”, the Volkskrant wrote. African influences, pop, soul and electro: all of these and more find their way into their music.

The legendary American gospel, R&B and soul group The Blind Boys of Alabama hardly need an introduction because of their impressively long and remarkable career. After seven decades together these legends have created a massive body of work. This Birmingham, Alabama collective has been around since 1939 (!). They have an ever-changing line-up of ‘blind boys’, one of whom is Jimmy Carter (who was only nine years old in 1939) who has been around since the very beginning. This group have mastered uplifting music to perfection and have won numerous Grammy’s over the years. They have also collaborated with legends like Prince, Peter Gabriel and Eric Clapton in the past and now they’re going to join Amadou & Mariam on stage.
