Andy Shauf + Molly Sarlé
Canadian singer-songwriter Andy Shauf has grown up on the prairies of Regina, Canada. Shauf makes beautiful songs that sound like poetry. He balances on the edge of fragile chamber pop and soft folk that are never that far from the spirit of Elliott Smith.
On his debut album “The Bearer of Bad News” his melancholy lyrics came to life in a remarkable way. With his 2016 album “The Party” he had his breakthrough and he quickly rose to the ranks of an elite group of songwriters that also includes Sufjan Stevens and Father John Misty.
Shauf is a true artist and story teller, possessing a talent to describe the tragic aspects of life like regret, loneliness, isolation and broken hearts, even to the smallest detail. With tasteful musical arrangements that include piano, drums, guitar and clarinet Shauf’s sound is at the least very remarkable.
Recommended to fans of: Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Randy Newman, Cass McCombs, Timber Timbre, Ryley Walker.
