During the pandemic, Árstíðir played an intimate show at Openluchttheater de Goffert. The group is now back for a performance in the beautiful Stevenskerk.
Árstíðir is one of the hardest-working bands in Iceland. Their music crosses boundaries, but is best described as folk and rock that’s inspired by classical music.
The Reykjavik-based band manages to blend organic, acoustic traditions and modern, electronic arrangements into a pleasant whole, one that sounds uncomplicated at first glance but is played with inimitable level of skill. Characterized by their flawless vocal harmonies, Árstíðir brings a refined, organic sound in which traditional elements are combined with modern electronic arrangements.
In the past the group shared stages with artists like Anneke van Giersbergen, but they have also been special guests of Sólstafir and Myrkur. In recent years they’ve upgraded to the main attraction, visiting pop venues, theatres, festivals and churches during their headlining tours.
Expect a set that consists of new work – the new album will be released in the Fall – but also older and well-know compositions of Icelandic folk songs.
